This experience was truly life-changing and eye-opening for me. Now, I am on a journey to live life to the fullest and help other stroke and brain injury survivors like me, embrace their "New Normal."

On August 4, 2016, I suffered a major hemorrhagic stroke. Thankfully I survived and most of my major deficits healed, but I still have many cognitive issues and tremors in my right hand.

My 1:1 coaching program's goal is to guide brain injury survivors through the ups and downs of recovery and provide tools to help with coping and thriving.

Don’t believe in the limitations of our past programming from trauma and negative life experiences.

Because of my stroke, I transformed from a negative person who was anxious and stressed to a beacon of light for so many brain injury survivors. I went from saying that meditation was impossible for me to practicing meditation daily. I went from believing I could only work in a box to creating a podcast for brain injury survivors and finding a new purpose in life. Don’t believe in the limitations of our past programming from trauma and negative life experiences. Each day we have the choice to decide to show up however we want to create our reality.

This physical life is too short to choose to focus on negativity.

I had no idea what a stroke really was before this experience and it hit me out of nowhere. You learn so much about yourself through adversity and what I learned from my journey of recovery is that all of the things I thought were so serious and important from day to day really didn’t matter. All that matters is how we show up in each moment and choose to contribute our energy to the world.

The question “Why me?” pops up a lot for brain injury survivors…

Finding others to talk to that understood my experience really helped me get through my recovery.

I know for me, immediately after my stroke, I really didn’t understand how this could happen to me.
